Afterglow (c.2022). This body of work is based on exploring emotional permanence within life long relationships. This work has evolved from sketchy journal entries into a visual manifestation that addresses a plethora of existential thoughts that fill my head at night. It is greatly driven by an overbearing anxiety of loss and a consistent yearning for permanence within the lifecycle of a connection.
The moments displayed in the still life imagery serve as representational callbacks to the intimate solace personal connections have presented to me. Additionally I have further employed the Cyanotype process to reproduce some images from my archive onto cotton fabric. The archival images are meant to highlight the passing of time in my personal relational cycles. The cyanotype images were suspended in front of diffused natural window light in the gallery in order to physically shed light through these mundane yet romanticized moments that I continue to reflect on daily.
Thank you most of all to the individuals featured in these archival images you are my most cherished asset.
